Cornish Swim is a partnership delivering swimming lessons and swim coaching to adults and children. This document explains how we use your personal data we collect from you when you use our website or sign up with us and complete our registration forms.
What data do we collect?
We collect your name and address, email address, telephone numbers, emergency contact telephone number, and medical information that may be relevant to the activity. We may also request your permission to take images for publicity purposes to use on our website or social media.
How do we collect data?
We will collect your data by means of paper forms, by voluntary use of our social media, via email, or by means of completion of an online contact form via our booking system.
How we will use your data
We will use your data (together with information about the child if applicable) to contact you for administration of participation in any swimming activities that we provide. We will also use contact information in the event of an emergency for a person or persons under our care.

The information you provide will be stored in a secure file on a secure laptop. All information will be destroyed/deleted upon request requiring re-registration. The original paperwork will be shredded when the swimmer leaves the swim school or upon request.
Regarding information provided for intensive courses, you will be asked if we can retain your information for the purpose of contacting you for future courses and to prevent frequent completion of forms. Should you not have accessed our intensive course or not be registered for weekly lessons for more than 24 months, all information held will be removed and/or destroyed.
Messages and emails will be held on the platforms to which they were sent. In the event of a medical emergency or safeguarding issue, Serenity Swim may disclose relevant information to medical professionals, emergency services, child protection services, the Police, courts, and potentially other professional people or bodies involved in an investigation.
As a person who has completed the form you must be legally entitled to act for the subject of the form and must ensure that each person whose information you include knows what will happen to their information and how it may be disclosed.
What are your data protection rights?
We would like to make you aware of all your data protection rights. Every user of our services is entitled to the following:
- The right to access – you have the right to request copies of all your personal data.
- The right to rectification – you have the right to request that the Swim School correct any information that you believe to be inaccurate. You also have the right for the Swim School to complete any information that you believe to be incomplete.
- The right to erasure – you have the right to request that Serenity Swim delete the data that it holds about you under certain conditions.
- The right to restrict processing – you have the right to request that Serenity Swim restrict the processing of your personal data that it holds about you under certain conditions.
- The right to data portability – you have the right to request that Serenity Swim transfer the data it has collected to another organisation, or directly to you under certain circumstances.
